Privacy and cookies
Here we explain, in plain words, what personal data we handle, why we handle it and what rights you have.
This page is a translation, provided so that you can understand the text. The version that applies is the Italian one: Privacy e cookie.
Data controller
The "data controller" (titolare del trattamento) is whoever decides how and why your personal data is used. For this site and for our services the controller is L.I.R.A. S.p.A., whose office is at Via Guglielmo Marconi 2, 40122 Bologna. For any question about your data you can write to us at gdpr@lirabo.com.
What data we handle
We handle only the data we need in order to do our work:
- Contact details: first name and surname, address, telephone, email.
- Contract data: the data tied to the service, such as whose name the account is in, changes of account holder, direct debit, bills and payments.
- Usage and reading data: the readings from the water meters and the data from the heat cost allocators and the heat meters, which we use to work out how much you use.
Why we handle it (purposes and legal bases)
The "legal basis" (base giuridica) is the reason the law accepts as valid for using your data. Ours are these:
- Performance of the contract: reading the meters, sharing out what has been used, issuing the bills, answering your requests.
- Legal obligations: the accounting, tax and administrative duties that the rules place on us.
- Legitimate interest: for example protecting our rights if there is a dispute, and keeping our systems secure.
How long we keep the data
We keep the data only for as long as the purposes described above require and, after the relationship has ended, for the retention periods laid down by law (for example for tax and accounting duties). Once those periods have passed, the data is deleted or made anonymous.
Who it may be disclosed to
We do not sell your data. Only the following can see it:
- our authorised staff, in order to do the day-to-day work;
- the suppliers who support us (for example with IT services), appointed as "data processors" (responsabili del trattamento), which means they are bound to use the data only on our instructions;
- your building manager, for the part needed for the cost allocation between the homes;
- public authorities, when the law requires it.
Your rights
The GDPR, the European regulation on the protection of personal data, gives you a number of rights (Articles 15-22 GDPR). In particular you can:
- find out what data we hold about you and receive a copy of it (access);
- have it corrected if it is wrong or incomplete (rectification);
- ask for it to be erased, when it is no longer needed;
- ask us to limit how it is used in certain cases (restriction);
- receive it in a format that other systems can read (portability);
- object to certain kinds of processing (objection).
To exercise these rights, write to gdpr@lirabo.com or by post to L.I.R.A. S.p.A., Via Guglielmo Marconi 2, 40122 Bologna. We reply within the time limits set by law. If you believe your data is being handled wrongly, you can also turn to the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, the Italian authority for the protection of personal data.
